Area Farmers and
the Yancey House Restaurant
Contributing to a Strong Local Economy and Preserving the Landscape
One of the key factors to the Yancey House Restaurant's success since opening in November 2005 has been our emphasis on fresh foods. Our staff embraces the philosophy that our food should be everything fast food is not. It's slow — in the making and the eating. It's fresh — not processed. It's from neighborhood farms and stores — not from industrial growers or retail goliaths.
We like to see ourselves in partnership with farmers. Although it is admittedly more work to deal with a number of local farmers as opposed to working with one distributor, We know how important it is for the local economy for us to support local farmers and businesses.
Obviously, there are times
when we must purchase foods from our Raleigh-based distributor. However, whenever
possible, YH work in partnership area farms, including Cat Briar Farm, Worsham
Farm, Hall’s Farm, Hannah’s Hydroponics, and local farmers Terry
Walker and Tommy Wilson, to provide our guests with the freshest produce available.
