Artists We Love
When you come to dine at the Yancey House Restaurant, you get more than great food in a historic, relaxing, and welcoming setting; you can dine among the wondrous works of local artists.
Since YH opened its doors in November 2006, paintings & pottery of local artists have been featured on its walls and mantels. To learn more about these artists and other local craftsmen, check out the following links.
Sayed Rawi - Sayed Rawi Tribute.. Born in Cairo, Egypt, but currently living in Caswell County, Sayed Rawi earned his associate degree in fine arts from the American University in Cairo in 1974 and a bachelor’s degree in Marketing from AL-AZHR University, also in Cairo. He worked as an illustrator for Egyptian public television and Disney publications in Egypt. He was the art director for children’s programming on public television in Cairo for three years before moving to the United States in 1983 to study art at the University of North Carolina, Greensboro. He earned a master’s degree in marketing at North Carolina’s AT&T University, taught art at the Greensboro Art Center and YMCA for several years, and eventually settled in Casville. His abstracts, hunting scenes, and paintings of the Yancey House are featured throughout the Yancey House Restaurant.
In September 2008, YanceyVillage Preservation, our non-profit, purchased all of Sayed's paintings from his estate.

Rona Fowler - Although Ms. Fowler lives in Shreveport, Louisiana and her work is not exhibited at the Yancey House, I wanted to include my favorite artist and dearest cousin. She is part of my earliest memories and has been a source of inspiration throughout my life. Rona is my go-to woman for spiritual concerns & matters of the heart. A gifted pianist, she attended Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and loves travelling, especially to Africa. After experiencing a personal tragedy, she began to work through her grief at age 61, by means of visual art, and credits God for this gift. She continues to produce an impressive array of work at age 74. Visit her website at http://www.ronafowlerart.com/.
